FAQs
What is the town of Katherine like?
Katherine is the fourth-largest town in the Northern Territory and serves as a major hub for the surrounding cattle stations, mining operations, and the tourism industry. It offers all the essential services. Our Katherine caravan park has also been named one of the best places to stay in the region.
When is the best time to visit Katherine in the Northern Territory?
The Northern Territory has two very distinct seasons: the Dry and the Wet. The “best” time to visit depends heavily on what you want to see and do. The Dry Season (May to September) offers the best weather and the highest level of accessibility for Nitmiluk National Park, which is one of the main reasons people visit Katherine.
The Wet Season in Katherine (roughly October to April) is known as the “Green Season,” and while it poses access challenges, it offers a truly dramatic natural spectacle. The main thing to see and do is to witness the sheer power of the flooding Katherine River. When the monsoonal rains hit, the river rushes through Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge), creating massive breathtaking waterfalls. However, access to activities during this time can be very limited.
We are also known to be the best Katherine caravan park, so come and stay with us!
What is there to do in Katherine besides Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park?
Katherine offers several unique attractions. One of the most popular is Katherine Hot Springs, a series of natural thermal pools located right in town and accessible year-round. You can also visit Cutta Cutta Caves Nature Park, home to stunning limestone formations and various species of bats, located south of the town. For history, explore the Katherine Museum and the historic sites associated with the World War II era.

Should I choose a campsite or a cabin at Breeze Holiday Parks?
Caravan parks in Katherine offer a range of different options, depending on the type of holiday you’re after! Campsites are perfect if you love the outdoors, enjoy pitching your own tent or parking your caravan, and want a flexible, budget-friendly option. You’ll be close to nature, with easy access to shared facilities like bathrooms, BBQs, and camp kitchens.
Cabins, on the other hand, offer more comfort and convenience. They’re ideal for families, groups, or anyone who prefers self-contained accommodation with beds, kitchenettes, and private bathrooms. Cabins are also great if you’re looking for a hassle-free holiday where you can simply unpack and relax.
